Karyn moved to Colorado in 1995 after earning a bachelor's degree in human services from the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. She has spent the entirety of her professional career serving marginalized populations in Denver. Karyn first learned about the Uptown clinics while working at Laradon. The adults with special needs on her caseload there received medical care provided by Bruner Family Medicine. This was her first introduction to the patient-centered care provided by Bruner and the other Uptown clinics.

In 2001, Karyn was hired by Saint Joseph Hospital to initiate and grow a care management program for the clinics that would become Uptown. She has since spent over two decades serving Uptown through multiple roles, in both direct patient care and in leadership. She became Chief Compliance and Privacy officer for UCHC in 2026. Karyn has a passion for the mission of Uptown Community Health Center and appreciates the opportunity to give back to a place that meets many needs in our community that might otherwise go unmet.

Outside of work, Karyn enjoys cheering on her two sons in their sports and activities, as well as taking group fitness classes, walking her golden retriever, and traveling to as many National Parks as possible.
